How to play it at the baby shower
- One board per guest and something to mark with: beans, buttons, candies or confetti.
- Pick a caller. Cut out the 54 cards, shuffle them and draw one at a time, saying its name and showing it. With guests who don’t speak Spanish, say both: “El Biberón, the bottle.”
- Agree on the pattern first: a row of four, the four corners, or the full board for the big prize.
- Whoever shouts ¡Lotería! first wins.
Prizes and how many boards
Make one board per guest, plus a couple of spares for whoever arrives late: up to 60 in a single PDF, and no two are alike. Have several small prizes rather than one big one: with short rounds —a row, the four corners— more guests get to play and win, and the full board can go last, for the best prize.
Printed on card stock the boards don’t bend or show through, and with the baby’s name on top they make a keepsake for the mom-to-be.
For a boy or a girl
The deck is painted in neutral colors —mint, peach, yellow and lilac— so the same boards work for a boy, a girl or a gender reveal. The name or the title you type is the only thing that changes.
No printer?
Play the traditional deck on your phones: the online lotería caller calls the 54 classic cards aloud in Spanish —El Gallo, La Sirena, El Catrín— and everyone opens a board on their own phone. Their names in English are in lotería cards in English. There are also a Day of the Dead lotería and a Christmas lotería to print, each with its own 54 cards.
FAQ
Is this baby shower lotería really free?
Yes. The PDF is built in your browser and downloads with no sign-up and no watermark. The 54 cards to cut out come in the same file.
What cards are in the baby shower lotería?
54 cards, like the traditional lotería: La Cigüeña (the stork), El Biberón (the bottle), El Chupón (the pacifier), El Pañal (the diaper), La Cuna (the crib), La Carriola (the stroller) and 48 more. Each board has 16 of them, or 9 on the 3×3 boards.
Is it bilingual?
The cards are printed in Spanish, like a lotería from Mexico, and this page lists every one with its English name. The caller can read both —“La Cigüeña, the stork”— so the guests who don't speak Spanish can follow along.
Does it work for a boy or a girl?
Yes. The colors are neutral —mint, peach, yellow and lilac— so it works the same for a boy, a girl or a gender reveal.
How many boards do I need?
One per guest. For a baby shower of 20 people, make 20 boards: you can make up to 60 in a single PDF and no two are alike.
Can I put the baby's name on the boards?
Yes. Whatever you type in the title is printed on top of every board: “Welcome, Baby Mateo”, “Ana's Baby Shower”.
How do you play lotería at a baby shower?
Like bingo with pictures: the caller draws the cards one by one and says their names, and guests mark them on their board. The first to complete the agreed pattern —a row, the four corners or the full board— shouts ¡Lotería! and wins a prize.
